I mentioned in a post from a while ago, that I’m really into that kinda warm, 60s/70s: heritage-style gloomyness, which Hollie totally encapsulates perfectly in these posts (here and here) and then aside from that there’s my whole groovy and gourdy technicolor-style vision of the late 80s-90s, (which probably isn’t so accurate, but sort of follows on from this vibbezz post I did from a while ago)- involving Courtney Love, Chloe Sevingy, Cher Horowtiz, Gwen Stefani, young Britney, M.I.A and all those strong female figures. When I think of the 90s I think of smiley-faced, poofy-haired, brightly coloured goofy fitness instructors and teenagers wearing puffy tracksuits, I also think of Jenna as a 13 year old girl (in 13 going on 30)- the super vibrant colours and pony tail hair and trashyness. I watched the movie when I was younger and I  was like: meh okay, but watching the intro again I realise how dreamy and typical American high-school-ish the whole set up is: the yearbook photos being taken, the pink bedroom, the brace-face, the girl gang (the Six chicks) REMEMBER? It is so ‘troubled thirteen year old’ I LAV IT, I LAV IT.

I haven’t been doing like any outfits lately because firstly I have been busy and lazy, so mostly just walking around in pants or the same jeans or whatever- but secondly because I can’t take good enough photos myself and it’s awkward asking my family GAH I NEED A TRIPOD GEEZUZ. I have been waiting for this editorial in this Norwiegan magazine called D2 to come out, because the looks that I wore really suit this post, but they haven’t got back to me for ages, so imma just describe what I wore, and maybe if they send me some photos, I can update this post later:

…In one, I am wearing this vintage from that ‘Shoreditch high-street slash Brick Lane crossover area’ in a little hall with lots of stalls-it was £15 and reminds me of that etsy joke jacket Tavi has which brings ‘good vibes’ and stuff. It’s really puffed out and has colourful slogans and things allover! Anywayz, I wore it with my £1 Burger King top and cherry skirt+sunnayzzz. In the other picture I am wearing embroidered shorts by Julia Thompson, a silky kimono that I got for £1, a headband from a yard sale, ballet tights, glitter jelly sandels from a market, LOUISE GRAY x TOPSHOP tee, a love heart ring which I found on the floor somewhere and some bangles/cobra shop choker/stickers too yayayay.

I’ve tried to make all my inspo fit into one category here, tried to group theme into themes like physchedelic daisy or something, but everything usually just kind of always ends up just being like kittens and pink stuff, so I figured, what’s the point? Blah. Lets just put it all together and see how it goesss whoooo (it kinda just disintegrated into like paradise and turquoise/baby pink vibez, oh well…) idek.

One of my favorite bloggers/people/awesome legend is Molly Soda. She is just generally like a babe on so many different levels and I did an interview of her here. She has a youtube channel where she posts random stuff and one of her videos (of her reading all her inbox messages on tumblr) is ten hours. How cray is that. She also does cool random videos and makes gifs…

Before I finish, oh-em-gee, the latest Romance was born (I can’t keep track of whether it was their S/S or A/W) show, called ‘Mushroom Magic’ absolutely blew me away. For the show they (being Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett) collaborated with Tanya Shclutz to create this amazing wonderland of a glowing-magical-garden-catwalk. The atmosphere of the whole show just looked so awe-gobsmackeringly-perfect: the disney/Alice in Wonderland theme, caviar-on the-face look, dyed hair, antennae and embellishment were just jdsfhjsfhjsdkj. The colors were sooooo on point: a mix of physchodelic and fluroscent pinks, greens, bananas and blues and the 60s shapes: puffy dresses, huge floppy seventies collars and then structured, sharp, tightnecked, colorful frocks were just so great. For hair, models were dressed in pastel bowl cuts wigs of all shades, wearing tiaras and pom poms and for makeup the models were practically dipped in glitter and coated in neon eye cream. The faces were powdered to a cherry or peachy complexion and decorated with sequins and glitter. Long batting fake eyelashes were added and nails sharpened.

So, I was feeling pretty meh, tired and exhausted after my second last day at lfw on Monday. I don’t know why, but I’m pretty sure IT’S JUST MONDAYS. I almost couldn’t get out of bed, but managed to drag myself to the last shows of London Fashion Week On Tuesday. After a disastrous journey into town, we (being me and my loyal chaperone, mum) made it to the TATE tanks. We were kind of late and once again I was totally stressed about looking like a snob, but my mum helped me to work my way to the front of the crowd and we asked the PR for Nasir if we could get in. There was a moment, when he was speaking to someone through an earpiece, saying: “yep, the waffles, no they said waffles”- and then he sighed, nodding us through. What a babe…

-Nasir Mazhar was literally amazing. I loved the fact that the presentation was more than the clothes, it was the whole atmosphere. As soon as you walked in there was lights, smoke and drinks being served. It was like we were in some sort of ninties club. There were about 5 ladies on the stage all in total glam clothes strutting around, whilst the lead singer shouted swear words (lol, rebel)- occansionally inserting “Nasir Mazhar rox” into the mix, no I’m joking, they were really good and it was great. NOTE: the awesome furry crop tops, metallic pleat skirts, tacky-style jackets and diva heels PLUS awesome hair. He’s kept to his mix and match textures, with a more fierce gyal look.

After popping into that, well, once we were in (guess what)-WE WERE IN. There was such tight security at the gate that tickets weren’t checked on the door into the show. Like my twitter pal (and boss at sneaking into shows says…) ‘it’s all about timing and the way you act’- walk in like you own the place and THEY CAN’T TOUCH DIS. So anywayz, we went in and I slotted into one of the aisles, and though I couldn’t see very well, I just enjoyed the show. Meadham Kirchhoff (and Louise Gray) definately had he coolest crowds, but they were both so packed, it’s cray. The mermaid fairy babe girl, who I have been raving about all over twitter was there, AGAIN+ also Hannah Lambert and other amazing peoplez. This dramatic ravel music was put on and before the show started I couldn’t stop thinking about grabbing one of the goodie bags, but I never got to cuz we had to rush to Ashish after Soooooo….

-Meadham Kirchhoff was crazy good- I am running out of complimentary words. The show started very monochrome, which shocked me, but like everything, they did it so well: they began with simple designs and things got more elaborate as they went along, but for me the theme was kinda: Wednesday Adams/glam post war/austere princess vibez, and seemed like a continuation of their A/W 2011 and last shows. I loved the fact that the models never had perfect faces or proportions, and all were abit awkward, which is cute, duh. I think the cherry on top was that they stuck to their aesthetics: with oversized white collars, signature flowing dresses and theatrical veils or tiaras. They added those tiny details that noone, but the most observant would notice- intricate embroidery, diamente detailing, pearls, maybe- and it was all very refined, pristine, breathtaking. As said in ELLE online: ‘Meadham Kirchhoff stripped away, cleaned up and focused on their “intrinsic taste and what really matters” for their latest collection’- but of course still managed to keep signature elements such as the frolicking, frilly dresses and clunky statement shoes. They teamed perhaps somewhat simplistic shapes (compared to their other more ‘layered’ collections)- such as bibs and pinafores with shiny shoes, patent textures and beautiful gothic tones. It was perky, but elegant and refreshing- what Edward called: his obbsession with perfection. Oh, and it was so perfect…

After that we had to leg it to Ashish down the Victoria Embankment (it was such a glorious day) and I slotted in the que as soon as I got to Somerset. My friend somehow last minute got a 2nd row ticket so I perched next to her and enjoyed the show. Sadly Kate Nash wasn’t there, but the crowd was still real cool, it’s wierd how you remember people from shows- it’s pretty much the same people from place to place.

-Ashish. What are we going to so with Ashish. His collection was even better than his last one. He totally nails understated or casual glam perfectly, plus he practically made the creeper in fashion, so he’s ultra cool. I love how he managed to intertwine new themes, such as workman chic, with his last collection’s denim fetish and his trademark sequins and humour. He strikes a really great balance between just creating what feels right and thinking about what would be wearable- his collections always seem sort of spontaneous or effortless: the windswept hair, bleak expressions and slouchy fit. To me his main forte is his skill when mixing traditionally masculine shapes with more feminine textures, such as a checkered shirt and jeans with a glimmering luminescent sequin sparkled workmans jacket. Of course, he adds finishing touches such as pointy shoes and witty tee-shirts to top of the sultry look. Watch out guys, Ashish is on the prowl.

-Although I haven’t got any photos for Tata Naka at the moment, they have to be one of my new favorite designers and I can’t leave them out. You walked in and it was ‘The Breakfast Club’-ish, with the models casually leaning against the wall, standing up chatting or sitting gossiping on the bench. The clothes were cool and fun and the set up was totally awesome!

Soooooooo, a while ago I sent an email to (tumblr sensation and ultimate webcam babe) Molly Soda, and she actually replied, which is awesome and sweet and lovely. As well as having amazingly fab hair, she is a total internet princess: she makes (usually flashy) gifs, has a website full of trashy junkfood, selfies, old picures of Britney Spears and makes random-ish youtube videos of herself just generally looking perfect. What’s the best and worst dreams you’ve ever had? 

i have a hard time remembering my dreams clearly if i don’t write them down right away. i should probably start keeping a dream journal because dreams are a good source of inspiration in a way. the worst dreams i have generally have to do with situations i have anxiety about, like if i’m stressed out about something i generally have nightmares about it until i confront the particular situation or it clears itself up. the best dreams i have generally involve me eating lots of yummy food or doing cool stuff that i wouldn’t normally have the  physical power to do in real life.

Heya guys. It’s really wierd blogging from lounge, partly because it’s really scary in here (I think I nearly peed myself of fright) and partly because I had to move from my room because the internet was fustratingly bad and the computer I am working on is completely going to blow up sometime soon, because there’s too much stuff on it. Oh yeah, so if I am off the internet for an abnormally long time (give it 2 or 3 hours) then just assume the computer has broken and I am in bed crying and trying to pretend nothing has happened. Oh yeah, and listen to this playlist I made whilst you read, eh? Happy easter, happy spring break (bitchez) happy Lent term holiday and all that shananiganing. What iz up witchu guiz. It’s been really busy. Things have been kinda depressing because school has been like ‘ugh’ well, school. There has been so much work and week after week it seems like we have a test (cause we do…) and I have been struggling so badly to fit in blogs that it’s making me very depressed indeed. It seems like my life is turning into a movie or series, well my school life at least, abit. So, firstly, some astrologist dude came into school, and got this huge black dome blownup and projected constellations onto it and it was all dark inside and he told dead jokes and it would’ve been so cute if your/my/whoever’s crush was sitting next to you and then you’d like hold his/her hand and yeah. That’s it. It was just like this scene in Freaks and Geeks and at the end he told us how any minute a big arse rock could come and wipe the Earth out. Yay. The next thing was, me and ma little girl gang packed sandwiches for lunch and decided to just not deal with all the hullaboo of the lunch que and sat out on the feilds and ate pitta bread and cheese (until the farmer dude told us to piss off, so then we hid behind a bench) and talked about life and were generally hashtag swaggie, as always. It was also like that scene from the virgin suicides. Then the last thing was dodgeball, we do this like patronising thing called ‘Fun Wednesdays’ where we play dodgeball with the other classes, and I kind of just stand there going ohh and ahh and trying not to get hit, and it’s like that episode from Freaks and Geeks…

Urgghhh, another thing has been lonely-holiday-syndrome: I feel like holidays can get so tiresome and hard to do. I mean, I much prefer them to term time, because I actually get to sleep past 6:00am, but it’s kinda hard to keep yourself busy for nearly three weeks. At school you’re constantly doing something or around people, whether you like it or not. It sounds kinda lonerish, but I feel like I have to organise things so my time is tightly packed in and I have to be really productive and get things done otherwise I just turn into a slug. Which I kind of already am. What I find most hard to not be sitting on the sofa on facebook/tumblr/twitter/wordpress every night doing the same things, it’s so lonely. What/where are cool things or places you can go to (in London) preferably…?

Below are some photos I took (during a sleepover with my friends) on my new Olympus OM10 film camera. They’re shots from my first roll of film, which I was really delighted with. I actually got the f-stops the wrong way round, and took most of these on a tiny shutter (too closed, small etc) and (used auto) so therefore a slow speed (to let in maximum light) handheld, hence the blurring. These are completely unedited by the way…

Vibesssss wise, I have been feeling a bit bummy lately: a mix of like empty 70s rooms, with a bit of warmth, desolate, unsettlingly perfect blazing landscapes, black and whites, reds and scratches and film and fire too. It’s moving on from the furry mustard feel from this post onto a more passionate kind of effortless feel, but effortlessly badass feel. I have been dressing up in whatever is easiest lately, mostly jeans and jumpers and tee-shirts and occasionaly a skirt with tights. I have been subconcousily werkin the comic trend: with my lil banana dress, a furry jacket, and my retro sweater too though. Actually, I have pretty much been wearing the same tie-dye tee shirt from COW Vintage, 5-pound boyfriend jeans, sweater  and Topshop boots for the whole of the holidays, because I am just so sick of everything else. I wish I could organise my inspirations into categorises, but I’m still figuring it out- and everything changes so quickly anyway…

This one (below) includes: 1. new baby barrettes, from Spitalfeilds and not saying: UGH YOU SUCK 2. Burnt out candles from my sister’s sweet sixteen, spelling out: HAPPY 3. The letter and envelope that Rachel sent me, it has the cutest sparkly Joe Jonas sticker! 4. Unicorn postcard from Rachel…

Other than that, I have been feeling very drab and lazy. I watched ‘The Virgin Suicides’ for the first time (fully) a while ago, which was kinda a huge marking point in my life for me, because it’s talked about so much EVERYWHERE, and I loved it. It was mysterious, intriguing and gripping, the soundtrack was soft, yet sharp, the cinematography was stunning and beautiful and the sets and designs were obbsessive, an organised mess, so perfect. Everything about it was just amazing, a huge source of inspiration. I particularly like the colors: I printed off stills from the movie and seperated them into colors, (sticking in my diary)- there’s a pale blue, a peachy pink and a bleak green. I decorated the area around each picture with quotes and stickers and beside I annotated the page, with notes or ways I could relate to the situation. The Lisbon house is alot like my Mum’s parents house, in Australia. The house my grandparents are living in now is different to the one my mum lived with them in, when she was a child, but this one’s more like the movie anyway: the sofas, which feel like a thin leather, are seventies blue, there’s crochet cloth everywhere and as well as little ornaments of Mary and Jesus etc there is a dim, reminiscent light that filters through the blinds. Another thing is Buffalo 66, I haven’t seen it, but it looks good, I want to see it. I get alot of inspiration from movies I haven’t even seen. But I am having a big movie night soon so s’all cool. I have realised that this blog (such an ugly word aha) isn’t really about fashion anymore, I don’t even post my outfits, or talk about what’s in or anything…I just give news about stuff that I think is cool, feature people, post my thoughts and ramblings and talk about life and figuring stuff out and colors and stuff I like. I think my lent-en promise is going to be to post more outfits or fashion related stuff on here; not because other people want me to, but because I just feel like I should, for myself. I also think lent is over. Oh.

I have been thinking alot about what I am going to do when I’m older, and how you know, or even just make decisions about what you are going to do when you’re older. People around us are always telling us what we have to do, what we’re going to do, making assumptions about it all and I think it kind of like tricks you into thinking you know what you want to do, but then you’re like wait, there’s so much I could do. The other day I was branded as ‘the next Susie Bubble’- another time I was branded as ‘the new Tavi Gevinson’- people get you confused with who you are and who you want to be and what you want to do, with their ideals and ideas. I have always jsut assumed to myself that I’d work in fashion and all, but when I actually think about it, I’d rather do photography (fashion photography, maybe), I’d love to create book that is just like my diary and/or my blog in print, it would be aesome to make a tv show with my own characters, or be like some kind of mysterious babe from a band. I’d love to make short Sofia Coppola or Wes Anderson style films.

I’ve been thinking about short films and music videos and stuff lately- I’m really into cameras and cutting together, and music and design. I’d love to try portray stuff in a pretty and beautiful way and at the same time, make it look like it’s real. Like, have you ever had those moments when you’re in the bath, or you’re lying bed, or you’re just sitting down, thinking about how beautiful where you are, or what you’re looking at is, or how sublime the colors are, or something? I’d love to be able to catch that simple prettiness in a casual way. I mean, I haven’t (at all) seen enough movies to know, but I feel like at the moment the movie industry is kind of lacking just beautiful films, like Picnic at Hanging rock was, and there’s just a very commercial, conventional and traditional way to film now-adays. I dunno.

Definately in the music industry, I feel like there is a lack of personal depth in trashy pop music: like most people in that area pay some lyricist (however much money) for some shallow song about drinking and sex and lol yolo, that contains about 3 ‘put ur hands up’s and 2 ‘lets get down tonite’s and 4 ‘party in the club’s or something, which is then recorded with heaps of autotune. Though I’m totally not in with the music scene, I feel like for a while there were not many good artists around and I’m so relieved that now there are cool people like: Delilah, HAIM and all those dudes. I really admire the way grimes goes about with her work: her music is like a project; she often thinks of the video first and then creates the song to accompany the video- it’s like a project. I think I’m kind of rambling, but whatever. I made this short film thing. I don’t even know. I think it’s just a product of my loneliness/laziness.

One of the many interesting things my father, mother and I have been talking about lately was horror movies. I don’t like them at all to be honest, but I saw a trailer of a new documentry coming out on rookie: yet another analyis of ‘The Shining’ and the morbid creator and his intentions, what the movie meant, what were it’s metaphors etc. I haven’t actually watched the movie, but it seems scary and odd, surreal and iconic and my Dad says it was just cray cray. I recorded our conversation and then typed it up. Here is what he had to say:

“we have these anxieties inside in our mind, we have really dark feelings, usually to do with death, and these horror movies, they take these anxieties and put them into a fiction that we can live and experience outside of ourselves and it enables our physcee to exersive that feeling and get it out, and take that feeling right to the edge, so really, it lets you express it. And then at the end of the movie, it’s a relief, because, like, it’s not a real thing, it’s just a movie. And so that’s why studies have been done on fairytales. The cinderella story has been told all around the world: in Europe, America and Asia, independantly and completely seperately, because it’s a story that children really love and want to be told, because children sometimes have these feelings where they really hate their mother and father or sisters and brothers and that scare’s them it’s ‘not a feeling they’re supposed to have’ and makes them feel really awful. But the story of cinderella, is about a wicked mother and horrible step-sisters and they love to hear the story, because they can have that feeling of hate, but experience in an external story that isn’t about them, so the feeling is released and isn’t trapped inside them. Horror movies do a similair thing to people, as fairy tales do to kids- kids want to hear the story again and again, because it’s reinforcing that release of anxiety again and again. And that’s why there should be darkness in fairy tales, because it’s about fear. Like, the original story of the three little pigs, I think it’s like: the pigs just all die, I mean, they don’t all laugh and survive, they just get eaten by the wolf. The ending’s probably like that too, because it’s about fear of life and ‘will I do enough to survive’ and that’s what kids are worried about, so it needs to be dark, so we can get that anxiety out. Modern fairytales take all that out, and that’s why it loses it’s effectiveness and we don’t have that many icnonic stories. The other thing is that they didn’t have books way back then; so the stories that survived were the ones kids wanted to hear over and over again.”

Just something to think about.

Tavi’s latest post on her blog was really disturbing for me. It’s been such a long time since she’d posted anything so I was like: SHE HAS SPOKEN…And of course the post was gorgeously written, the wording was a nostalgic perfection, if not displaying an obbsessively deep and thoughtful side of Tavi, but I felt like it lacked her usual witty manner, colorful pictures and liviness, and it was like she wasn’t so inspired anymore. It reminded me that people grow up, people change. Tavi was never going to be the ‘pint-sized-fashionista’ forever. I felt like it was abit of a: goodbye, I am kind of not that intersted in sharing anymore, but I’m still kind of just here…because I feel oblidged to keep sharing for the people who’ve so loyally followed. I’m not critiscising her, telling her to keep posting or anything, I’m just saying, I feel abit sad, like an era is over: I’ve followed her throughout her ‘reign’ (if you will) and she’s been so influencial to me as well as so many other young people around the world, so it feels almost like a part of me is lost, with the loss of a constant source of inspiration. She is much less active on the internet nowadays (ain’t nobody got time for dat) so I’d describe her as more ofan eloquent, smart, wise, independant, woman-figure of the web, just thoughtfully floating above us all, like an angel. I’m amazed at how she manages to restrain herself from constantly sharing her every whim with the world, it makes me think about how dependant we are on the internet, and knowing what everyone else is doing constantly. It makes us feel like we’re part of something more than just ourselves, we feel ‘in the know’ and special, because we know something others don’t. It’s really complicated, the way the internet affects our minds and the way we live. You can sit on a computer all day: play games with virtual people, talk to somewhat ‘virtual’ people through social network sites like facebook etc, and create ‘virtual’ stuff, yet you still feel lonely. So where do we draw the line between ‘virtual’ and real? It’s an interesting concept and definately something Tavi addresses in her latest post.

The theme was supposed to be that kind of ‘dying blue’ but descended into a navy blue/cream/red urban lady thing vibe, I don’t even know, I COULDN’T HELP MASELF. I had to restrain myself so there are only a few, but if I took everything from my tumblr we’d be here all year urgh- more vibezzzz posts laterzzzz….

HOW IS EVERYONE GOING? I have got afew things done: I saw Holly on Saturday- we crafted stuff and tried out my new Olympus OM10 in the park. I had a relaxing easter sunday and then went to Brick Lane with Maddie on Monday, where I got some cute things: a Stevie Nicks Record, Pink Sweater, baby barettes and a badge (+lunch, for under £20 eheh) and then we went to a forest nearby and rode all the way down this huge hill. When we got home we went out to Fujiyama and had yummy sushi for dinner, came home to meet Grace, ate moist brownies, watched a new intense thriller and then slept. Today I went out with Donna: we had a quick look in Dover Street Market, where they had trolls in the window display, the fluffy Celine shoes, YES, I SAW THEM IN REAL LIFE, and where a suspicious security guard followed us around. I also saw these amazing chunky comme de garcon shoes which were glittery and clunky and gah, I need them. We ate lunch in Berkley Square, walked past all the couture and then took the tube back to Oxford street where we wandered around Topshop and the likes. My feet hurted so I suggested we go home. And now I am sitting on my sofa, on a perfectly sunny day, not doing much, but talking to myself and making gifs of myself…

Note, my hair is shorter, because I cut it. It looks kinda manky still, but the ends looked like straw and though the rest is still kinda dead from the bleach, it’s not as bad anymore. Another thing that has happened is that it’s my bloggiversary. Yay, whoop de doop, yes, whooo, lah lah lah. Yeah, sooooo I kinda forgot that I started this blog exactly 2 years ago today…I think I’m supposed to upload some kinda of special video being like ‘yeah I’m amazing’ or telling some cheesy tale about how this all happened, but nothing much has happened since. Okay, kind of abit has. I started off writing this paragraph being all like: ‘When I first started my blog, it was one of those annoying trying to be really smart and ‘in’ style tips, fasion know-it-all blogs…’ and then I was like, WAIT, you babes have put up with me for (like) 2 years, I think you’re gunna know what my blog’s like. And that’s boring anyway. I don’t even know why we’re having this conversation (we’re not, I’m talking to myself, cause this is the INTERNET) and I am here to show you the cool photos of ze veek, so yeah: listen…if you want to.

Omg, if you haven’t seen the Prada Candy L’eau film directed by Roman Coppola and Wes Anderson (dream team ahhh), you have got to see it- it’s perfect. It follows Lea Seydoux, as ‘Candy’- a charming French woman who attracts men with just a whiff of her sweet alluring scent (-something like white musk, caramel, benzion and a hint of citrus.) The film involves two men chasing her around, before she decides who to pick. In the end, we’re not sure who she picks, however we learn that ‘banana split’ in french, is simply: banana split. 

Lazy Oaf (aka like one of the coolest online shops ever) launched their shoe collection with Kickers just last week, and it’s totally awesome: there’s a pair of shoes that are black, white a red- brogue like, with bows, another pair have a rainbow platform heel, there’s a sparkly pink and a sparkly black pair and there’s a mickey mouse to the first minnie mouse pair too. The lookbook was shot by Masha mel, styled by Tess Yopp and features the Bloom Twins.

Heyyyyyyyyyyaahhhhhh. Heyyaaaaahhahahahahahaha. Alright, alright. Watspannen wichu guiz? I have been pretty busy. Year eight has been boring, tiring and sarcastic lately. I have had lots of homework and not got much done, but friend-wise some cool tings have been going down. I think I am getting back into my hipsta-gangsta-slang-self…fam. My most used word at the moment has got to be “hollllllaaaa”-  half spoken, half sung, of course. And my most worn items of clothing have been my amazing rainbow tie-dye crop top gifted to me by cow vintage, my good old denim washed boyfriend jeans, (which I got for a fiver from Dalston) and these crazy awesome patent chelsea boots from TOPSHOP, which are the easiest and comfiest option. I am sorry for a huge lack of posts, or more specifically outfit posts lately. It’s just they take more effort and I am a smelly poop and I need to get a tripod. Magazine wise, I was featured in three magazines over christmas (DOLLY, Sunday Times Style bargain issue thing and COMPANY magazine) and the Sunday Times Style featured me again this month in an OPI’S World page spread in their big style edit ahhhhh, which was totally awesome!!! ! ! !!  Below you can see the company feature (with Carrie of Wish, Wish, Wish) and the two features in the Sunday Times Style (-the second one has doodles which I did heheh)…The Sunday Times style have been super supportive in all these features and in taking me to LFW so thanks a bunch and I hope we can collaborate again in the near future. Look out for me in a Norweigan magazine called D2, soonish. I guess this is a big ‘lately’ type post. You can pick through the bits you’re interested in…

I was also featured in The Evening Standard and dubbed as the 4th most successful kid in London, I am bewildered and surprised- see it here.

Other important stuff that’s happened lately is obviiiiiiii international Womans day woohoo- I spent mine adding commas into wierd sentences about people having ten fingers on each hand, shaking salt and water together, melting plastic and doing the wrong excersize in maths, yay for school. Then the next thing is my blog is now my own domain #HOLLA, basically meaning I now have more space, I’m http://www.opheliahorton.com (as a pose to having that pooey .wordpress in the middle) and I can post my own videos without having to embed them! And then there’s Mothering day today, so happy mums day, mum. I hope you’re not too stressed wiv ur cray-cray lyfe. Here are some scans from my diary and other various tingz:

Here comes the ALL GOOD THINGS COME IN THREES BIT. So have picked my three favorite: artists or photographers, models of the moment, upcoming movies, and cool tunez.

Artists. I seldom have time to spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon at a gallery or show or something, but admist all the hustle and bustle of fashion week, I did manage to stop off at the press viewing of the new Roy Lichenstein exhibiton at the TATE Modern. It was a mix of perfectly structured paintings, sculptures and prints, it was fun and comical and stylish. I loved being surrounded by all this crazy color and the best bit was that everything perfectly coincided with my banana-polka dot print dress. It was great and I would totez recommend it! #Lichtenstein -NOTE: I was allowed to take these photos because of a press pass and I am allowed to post them online, because it has been approved by the coordinators/PRs/whoever. Please do not use them for commercial purposes or even use them anywhere else (i.e your blog)- or I will poop on you Thankyou, that is all.

The second cool person I am going to be talking about is Juergan Teller. I think I’ve already talked about his awesomeness, but basically, I love his photos. He has the coolest daughter, Lola and has photographed (like) everyone in the history of coolness. I visited his ‘Woo’ exhibition at the ICA (see here for more) during half term and it was lush. As soon as you walked in there was Dame Viv, as bare as a baby’s bottom…if you could say that? As you walk along you see snaps from a forest, with quotes underneath explaining or narrating each photo, as if you’re there. In the next bit there’s rooms full of huge prints of his work on the walls: a trademark marc Jacobs print, and other selections from his more commercial phases. My favorite room was like a cramped little box. The walls were completely covered with his photos: the flashy, edgy, reality, grunge feel really comes out- it was a mix of editorials, portraits, comissions and family photos. Everything was diva and glam and stuff. One of the photos was of his daughter Lola in a pond on her 14th birthday (I think)- she’s dripping wet with a pensive expression. Below it explains their conversation. Juergan Teller sounds like a cool dude, I’d love to meet him.

I don’t have any photos form the actual exhibiton…(it’s a mystery) but here are the photos from the journey with Theo and Amelia.

THERE ISN’T A THIRD TO THIS ONE DEAL WITH IT.

Sooooo…favorite model time. Lately I have been into: Xaio Wen Ju, Kelly Mittendorf and Chloe Norgaard. I think what I like about them is that they all have really unique bone structure, jaw-wise. While Xaio Wen has a round and smooth face shape, Kelly has sharpe cheekbones and distinct features- Chloe is almost the opposite: with a long face and perfectly shaped chin. They all have lovely eyebrows too. Eyebrows seem to be a thing. Most of all I love that they all have a great style, personality and smile. I love a good smoulder, but smiles are always cool too.

I wouldn’t say I’m a huge fan of going to the movies, but I am super excitedddd about some movies coming out soon. Firstly, ‘Spring Breakers’ looks real good.  I don’t really know how to put it, but their website say: ‘Four sexy college girls plan to fund their spring break getaway by burglarizing a fast food shack. But that’s only the beginning… During a night of partying, the girls hit a roadblock when they are arrested on drug charges. Hungover and clad only in bikinis, the girls appear before a judge but are bailed out unexpectedly by Alien, an infamous local thug who takes them under his wing and leads them on the wildest Spring Break trip in history. Rough on the outside but with a soft spot inside, Alien wins over the hearts of the young Spring Breakers, and leads them on a Spring Break they never could have imagined.’ Sounds exciting, no? Plus it features (James Franco…but) all my fave Disney channel icons, so I’m super excited to see how good-girl-gone-bad they get.

The next movie is ‘The Great Gatsby’ by Baz Luhrmann. I love a good thrill movie and Leo and Carey are just perffff. I’m not even going to watch it just for the costumes by Prada. The movie follows newbie to New York, Nick: an aspiring writer from the mid-west and explores his encounters with Jay Gatsby, a flamboyant millionaire and the relationship between the rich and their fantasies. From the trailer I am guessing that he meets some mysterious rich dude and there’s a big secret, tied into love, corruption and betryal- encrusted with the pardy style of the 1920s, mixed with a punk soundtrack. Leaping lizards it’s gunna be good!

The last movie is Sofia Coppolla’s film: ‘The Bling Ring’. It seems to have a similair vibe to ‘Spring Breakers’ but is going to be like crazy amazing because it’s by Sofia, duh. If you’ve been living under a large rock for the last decade or something, Sofia Coppola directed ‘The Virgin Suicides’ (starring Kirsten Dunst) and ‘Somewhere’ (starring Elle Fanning) to name afew other legends. ‘Inspired by actual events, a group of fame-obsessed teenagers use the Internet to track celebrities’ whereabouts in order to rob their homes’- she matches her last films in that she has a babe’in cast, featuring Emma Watson and Leslie Mann. She again stuns me with her perfect use of fonts.

Mmmm music wise, I’d say I’m pretty much late on everything. All my friends know all these indie bands like: the Smiths, the Wombats, the Kooks, the Macabees…? And I’m just like, halp meh; but my friend Theo helps alot and shows me cool people. Right not I have been listening to a mix of shimmery Best Coast, Super Cute, Girls, Grimes, Marina and the Diamonds and random songs with obscene names. Some cool new people that I’ve encountered lately are…Firstly: Bastille and their song Bad Blood- I prefer the eery video (to the song of theirs which I was actually first introduced to- ‘Pompeii’) and it’s super creepy. I didn’t understand the story line of the music video to ‘Bad Blood’ at first, but basically, this girl’s boyfriend goes missing or drowns or something and she can’t save/find him, so she goes insane and goes into his house and wears his clothes and eats all his mouldy crap and nearly kills herself and then realises that she needs to get her shit together. They do alot of yowling and grunge. Then there’s the Vaccines. I think I’m kinda majorly late on this one, but oh well. I haven’t listened to much of their stuff except for ‘Teenage Icon’- it’s fun and bouncy. Lastly, there’s this artist called Sade who I heard about on ROOKIE in their hero status bit, and I just love her soulful voice, deep tone and MERMAID VIDEO GUYS IT’S A MERMAID. A MERMAID, but mostly, her music just seems so comforting mmm.

Another thing I saw on ROOKIE was this film by Mihael Lucid (in 1996, edited in 2000) about girls in school/society and the feminist movement within the youth. The short film explores the issue of being a ‘freak’ or being treated unfairly or differently in school and follows a group of teen riot girls at a Californian campus, whilst they speak about their experiences. They are called the ‘dirty girls’- a name given to them by their classmates (etc) because their clothes are ‘something out of the garbadge’, their hair isn’t brushed, they ‘rebel against society’ and supposably don’t wash. The girls explain why they don’t care what other people think, don’t try to compete with one another and don’t conform to societies ideals. IT’S REALLY GOOD JUST WATCH IT ALREADY. PLUS, I think it was vice, but someone found the two main girls from the short movie, did a follow up interview/another movie and the trailer is somewhere ahahahah go find it, but here is the shoot.

Happy Ashley! I think I’ve probably talked about her before on my blog, because I loved her last collection. SO MUCH. This season the show (once again) demonstrated Ashley’s obbsession with ‘Americana’ and was inspired by teen idols and bright, fun slumber partys- she teamed printed mini dresses and fifties themes with a contradiction of court shoes and converses. I loved the Elvis tops, sharp eyeliner flicks, bright nails, fluffy yellow collars and bubble writing. The best bit was definately the little teddybears, which the models carried as accesories, it was so kitsch. First three photos from da world wide web, last one from the Topshop’s blog.

Simone Rocha’s fall show was called ‘Respect your Elders’ and was inspired by her late Irish Grandmother and Chinese Grandmother. She described them as always looking immaculately neat and totally inspiring. Her collection was of course prim and proper, with the usual girlie lace cut-outs and intricate designs, but with more androgynous touches such as patent boots, boucle structured jackets and clunky glitter/perspex shoes. One side of the show was baby pinks and fuzzy creams and the other side was buisness blacks with lots of detailing. I don’t know how she does it, but Simone Rocha does what she does so well- she has such maturity in designing behond her years. There is so much more today about the collection, but this is supposed to just be an overview, so, lets move on…Photos from da intranet. 

“Always be yourself. Unless you can be a unicorn. Then always be a unicorn”- Sophia Webster’s presentation for fall was so perfect, literally, it’s crazy.  She reads my mind, I’m nearly 100% sure she’s under my bed fishing out ideas from my head. Her style is so fun and playful and wearable and awesome. Her collection with the models in the doll boxes was just legendary and her latest collection was just magical. The models wore pastel bodysuits with roses or lovehearts and knitted patterns. They posed amongst candy coloured trees, fake snow and stilletos, clutching bags in the shapes of mythical creatures. The shoes followed her signature look of straps and stripes and buckles and lines, with lots of colors and beautiful metallic and holographic detailing. I love how she really made an effort to present the models well too: note, the amazing dyed hair all bunched up in a huge plait to act as a unicorn horn and lip pop, COME ON PEOPLE. Sister by Sibling. What are we going to do with Sister by Sibing. They’ve taken the industry by storm and are raising the standards in the knitwear department. Their A/W 13 show was opened by the one and only Cara Delevigne (guiz, I think I nearly peed myself, I had to cut my film of it so that you can’t hear me saying omg omg omg when she comes on) and was a mix of sexy English Rose and exuberant fluff ball. It was chunky and statement and fun- all the models had frizzy hair, but you know Sis by Sib, they wow every season. Just in advance: sorry for the soundtrack to the video I hastily filmed during the show (below)- I tried to buy I DON’T CARE (I LOVE IT) by Icona Pop (see here) but I couldn’t find it, so yeah…sorry aha. P.S I don’t know if he video will work…(now that I have my own domain and have upgraded and all that) it’s the first video I’ve ever done on my blog that isn’t embedded from youtube…

To finish off, lets talk about Louise Gray. I love that chic. Her shows are so fun and full of life and her fall show was absolutely packed to da brim- (they only let about 30 of the 100 standing ticket-ers in!) The show was all to do with recyling- it followed her signature look of crazy prints and sharp, unique shapes. Here are some photos I took…

Hey guys! In case you’re living under a rock or something, it’s London Fashion Week. Well, the end of LFW. Yeah. And just so you guys know, I won’t be posting any LFW updates on this blog, until the writing is up on The Sunday Times Style website, as they have been sending me round to afew shows as a correspondant- and want things to be more exclusive. However, everything will be up later. It’s been really great and I’ve had an amazing time, the shows have been stunning and everyone has been so wonderful and beautiful, but yesterday I was on abit of a low. I wanted to share with you my diary entry from last night -I would scan it so it’s more lifelike or whatever but I really can’t be bothered at the moment:

So it’s not like I’m at all ungrateful for my success, it’s just that LFW has been kinda wierd lately. Me and mum were talking about how much of a fickle, last minute and sorta harsh industry it is. Now that I’m kind of successful (I guess) most people are abit spiteful because I’m a ‘threat’- or maybe they’ve just got over the whole teen blogger palava. Or maybe I am just making up excuses, because I’m shocked that the novelty of my limelight has dropped and slowed so quickly. Confused. In some ways I like being left alone abit. I still feel like I should be enjoying myself in this magical fairy world of fashion, but all the pooeyness has to come out at some point. I feel abit like that moment when Tavi says she was sitting next to Anna Wintour and everyone at the show looked miserable came too early for me. I don’t really know whether anything I’m saying makes sense at all, but I’m just not getting the same buzz. I’ve been going to more shows than last season so I should be jumping with joy, but I’m sort of exhausted and haven’t had friends or colleuges to talk to like all the fashion peoplez. I guess I keep telling myself: ‘I’m not tired. I’d be fine if I had tonnes and tonnes of shows to go to and no time and loads of smiley faces and things.’ Like, today: at the Louise Gray show today, I was standing in the standing que for like 45 minutes watching people I knew walk past me without even noticing me and it was kinda fustrating. It all seemed abit worthless: the different between a nobody and a somebody was a green dot (on your ticket, duh)- so close yet so far. I felt abit like I just didn’t fit in. Hmm. After that I was abit bummed/hmmed etc and I was too (insert another word meaning tired or something) to go to the last show so I just went home. One of the good things about today was that I looked freakin’ cute, but I didn’t hang out at Somerset much which means I have no photos of my outfit. It’s the last day tommorow so mum says I should go out with a bang. She says I should wear my sparkly Louise Gray dress, but then I feel like I’m falling into the trap of having to wear something ‘stand-out-ish’ so people will see me and ‘I’ll feel validated’ and just generally not dressing for myself or staying true. Descisions, descisions.

Back to the post: I feel like I’m yearning TEENAGE interaction so today I might hang with my good old friend Rocio. I don’t know what to wear cuz the Louise Gray dress is so heavy. Meep. I have three shows: Nasir Mazhar, Tata Naka and Ashish, but I’m so kind of urggh-ed out that I don’t know if I’ll make it hahah. So much waiting in lines, but oh well. I feel like I should make an effort. Lots of blogging and editing and things to do. For now, enjoy these street-style shots by me…
